On October 8, 1989, Earnie Adams became the first motorcycle jumper in history to successfully complete The Triple, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway—in front of 100,000 fans.

In 17 seconds, Adams jumped 60 cars, with three jumps on the same run. Jump distances: 100 feet, 125 feet, and 150 feet.

The jump was Adams’ “response statement,” as he and some of the sport’s other top stars were somehow excluded from a chance at making a Caesar’s Palace event much more than it actually was.
